Overview

The structure subsystem is responsible for keeping the power specifications and the physical implementation of the submarine. The most essential component of the structure group is to make sure that the submarine's electrical components are safely sealed so that no external elements can affect them. The model chosen for our sub was chosen because of the simplicity of it's shape because there is plenty of room for any additional parts for any future work to be added onto it. Since the submarine's structure is so simplistic, it is easily taken apart and put back together with basic color coding and only one allen wrench to keep transportation is effortless. One of the overall goals that was kept in mind for the structure group was to make sure that the submarine was very lightweight. Also, one thing that was strongly taken into consideration is the buoyancy of the submarine so that there would be no need to use any more thrust than necessary to keep it submerged. A new addition to the submarine this year is a brand new box which was which had been specifically created to provide a better seal to the submarine than any previous models which was crafted by one of our very own students at Southern Polytechnic State University.
